10 am-12 pm Workshop: Intermediate Fiddle
Learn basic elements of the local Gaspesian fiddle style heard around Douglastown and surrounding communities. Practice three or four tunes from local fiddlers including Erskine Morris, Cyril DeVouge, the Drody family, Joe Howell, King Marion and Hermas Réhel. Host: Glenn Patterson. You must bring your own fiddle. Conference room. Voluntary contribution.
1 pm-3 pm Workshop: Accordion
Robin is an accomplished self-taught musician who has been playing accordeon and guitar for 15 years
with groups such as La Baratte à Beurre, Marée Montante and Tord-Vis.During this time, he played traditional tunes while developping a unique style. host: Robin Servant. You must bring your own accordion. Conference room. Voluntary contribution.
8 pm Concert: Holy Show
First part: Mathieu Fournier and Steve Boulay
When this duo gets together, they bring out the true substance of our folklore music. You will kept on the edge of your seat and your feet will be itching to dance.
Second part : Salty Dog.
Salty Dog plays Celtic folk music with a distinctively ‘Maritime’ flavour. For the past twenty-five years, this Montreal-based group has brought foot-stomping, hand-clapping songs and fiddle tunes to many parts of eastern Canada, including Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. bar service. 10 am-12 pm Workshop:Intermediate guitar
Basic old time guitar styles to back up fiddle tunes. You will practice a basic bass-strum pattern,
walking bass lines and chord substitutions used to accompany reels and waltzes. Inspiration drawn from musicians
such as Brigid Drody, Brian Morris and Rita White. Please bring a capo and either a flatpick or thumbpick.
